memories of Superman
Keith Howard shares some of his memories of superheroes and his favorite Superman, George Reeves.
Remembering george reeves
"George was the perfect Superman. He was also an amazing Clark Kent. He was very smart and more like a detective than a newspaper reporter. And he always let the rest of us in on the secret. At the end of the show when he would turn to the camera and wink, I felt like it was me he was winking at. He was like a father figure to me especially after my father moved out of our house. It was Superman that I turned to when I needed guidance and direction in my life. And George was that Superman."
His first Superman Suit
"At the age of 14, I made my first Superman costume. My little brother was 4 and he always wore these light blue pajamas made out of thermal underwear material. I hand drew the Superman logo and used construction paper to make the chest logo. I also taped yellow paper to a belt and put it on him. Pinned a red towel around his neck and he became Superman!"
A Lifelong Superhero Fan
"My early childhood was in the mid to late 1960’s and I grew up watching re-runs of the recently cancelled Batman TV show as well as numerous other shows dealing with Superheroes. But my favorite has always been the Adventures of Superman TV show. Superman was the ultimate good guy with amazing powers. My favorite was his ability to fly! I mean, what kid didn’t take a kitchen towel and pin it around their neck and then pretend they were flying around the house?"
